Laura’s career in finance began when she was a student at the University of Kentucky, where she majored in finance and management. She worked part-time in banking while earning her degree and gained a full-time position with Banc One after graduating. Eventually, she moved her career to the financial advisory world by working at Fidelity Investments, Lincoln Financial, and now Legacy Financial. Laura has been working in the financial industry for over 20 years and has gained a tremendous amount of experience ranging from customer service to being a part of building a business.
Being from a middle-class family and one of five children, Laura learned how to work hard for what she wanted. She attributes her good listening skills to growing up with siblings, as well as her competitive spirit and compassion toward others.
Laura is a problem solver who likes to think outside the box. She keeps a level head and remains calm in most situations, which works well for both her strategic planning with partners at Legacy Financial and the day-to-day operations she is responsible for. She manages staff, performs HR functions, finds and implements software systems, creates budgets, builds financial reports by working directly with the CPA, and developed the compliance department- to name a few.
Before Legacy Financial was what it is today, Laura worked directly with one of the partners as an assistant, processing paperwork and working with clients. She then stayed home for a couple of years with her children, and when they formed Legacy Financial, they asked her to come back as office manager. She started out with very little responsibility and helped grow the company from the ground up. Laura enjoys seeing the fruits of her labor through the success of Legacy Financial and especially the culture and the people that she works with. She relishes in the ability to help whenever she can, personally or professionally.
Outside of work, Laura spends her time with friends and family. She loves to be outdoors and get active- whether that means attending her kids’ sporting events, hiking, biking, pickle-ball, or some time at the gym. She tries to fit in small trips when time allows and volunteers her spare time to charities.
