Matt has enjoyed his 28-year career helping corporate executives, business owners, and wealthy families with their financial and tax planning issues. He graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University with a B.B.A. in accountancy and has a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Denver. In addition, he maintains his CPA and CFP® designations. Prior to joining Legacy Financial, he worked at PNC Wealth Management and EY (Ernst & Young).
After spending nearly 20 years in large organizations, Matt realized that his time was spread too thin, and his clients were not getting the attention they deserved. Instead of racing to the next meeting or the sale, Matt wanted to focus closer attention on his clients and his family. Matt lives by his belief that when you do well for a family, you are a friend for life; when you do well for a corporation, you are simply doing your job. He has delivered countless financial planning presentations to people from various walks of life. This experience has taught him how to explain complex topics in different ways to help his clients understand all their options.
Matt loves that his job allows him to collaborate and bring in other professionals to seek the best outcome for mutual clients. For him, there is no room for egos or being territorial when it comes to bringing a client’s goals and dreams to fruition. He enjoys the interaction and relationships he has built with his clients. Many of them he considers friends- if not family.
Having a master’s degree in taxation and years practicing as a Certified Public Accountant, he understands the impact of taxes on financial decisions and investment returns. At Legacy, Matt helps guide his clients with their financial, estate, and investment decisions. Matt feels he has been blessed with great mentors throughout his career and has leveraged their life lessons along with his education, training, and personal experiences.
Matt has been married for 22 years and has 2 children who he loved watching compete in sports. Matt is also a youth soccer referee and enjoyed his years coaching his kids’ soccer teams and years of coaching youth wrestling. Matt loves cooking and traveling, especially to Charleston, South Carolina.
